Hall of Femmes meets Tasneem Salim

Update January 13th:
Please note that this event has been postponed to a later date during spring 2016. We will keep you informed as soon as a new date has been confirmed. Sorry for the inconvenience!

“We are calling upon people to imagine a future through games and through creative industries that we can apply to our culture, says Tasneem Salim, we believe that societies that don’t have a sci-fi culture don’t evolve. We’re hoping to start a spark and talk about local sci-fi, and how we as girls can develop the future.”

When no women were allowed at gaming conventions in Saudi Arabia, 25-year-old digital media strategist and game developer Tasneem Salim took matters into her own hands. In 2011 she created CGON, the first gaming convention for women in Saudi Arabia.

GCON wishes to create a network and encourage solidarity between women in gaming, and to use games as a tool for change. GCON is the largest gaming convent for women in the world. In 2015 it was held in Riyadh (29-30 Nov) and in Khobar (8-9 Dec).

Hall of Femmes has invited Tasneem Salim to Stockholm for an evening on gaming culture in the Arab world, feminism and future visions for the gaming industry.

A Diversi Stockholm Meetup is organised in the restaurant at ABF-huset after the seminar.
